Purpose of the Job
To support in developing, implementing and administering Social and Environmental safeguard aspects. She/He will ensure FZS implements systems and measures that safeguard the economic, social and environmental rights of local communities living inside and outside the BMNP. Will guide FZS and government partners in the field of social and environmental safeguards and will serve as an advisor for field-based activities in this regard. This includes training and capacity building for FZS field staff, partners and communities to ensure oversight and adherence to human rights and social and environmental safeguards policies, as determined by the needs of the project. The position holder will be based in Robe with frequent travel to Bale Mountains National Park (BMNP) S/He will report to FZS Ethiopia Country Director and work under technical guidance of FZS HQ Social Safeguards Coordinator.
Job Requirement
Key Job Requirements: A Master’s or other advanced law, social studies degree, or similar. More than five years of professional experience in community and livelihood development, stakeholder engagement and social and environmental safeguards. Knowledge of international human rights and social safeguards standards, local legislation, and policies applicable to community and livelihood development. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Afan Oromo and Amharic. Interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the ability to engage at all levels including with local communities, local and national governments, international stakeholders and partners.
