Job Requirement

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, criminology or related discipline is required. A first-level university degree in a similar field in combination with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of relevant, progressively responsible professional experience in crime prevention and criminal justice is required. Work experience in investigating and disrupting illicit financial flows deriving from organized crime is required. Work experience in the development and delivery of training is required. Work experience providing technical assistance in the area of smuggling of migrants or trafficking in persons is desirable. Work experience providing training or advisory services to criminal justice practitioners in the area of smuggling of migrants or trafficking in persons is desirable. Work experience with counterparts in field locations is desirable. Experience with the United Nations system or a similar international organisation on criminal justice and crime prevention issues is desirable.

Language

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is desirable. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
