Job Requirement

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in a relevant field, such Environmental Science, Development Management, Food and Water Security and Development, Climate Change, Development Studies, or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in project implementation and management of development projects, preferably in the areas of climate change adaptation, food security, water supply/irrigation, or rural development. Experience with large multi-stakeholder or multi-regional projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in developing project implementation manuals, operational guidelines, or similar procedural documents for donor-funded projects. Familiarity with GCF-funded projects or other international climate finance projects and their operational requirements is a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of project management cycles, institutional coordination mechanisms, and government implementation modalities in Ethiopia. Knowledge of public financial management and procurement processes (especially Ethiopian government and GCF standards) is required. Additional familiarity with environmental and social safeguard policies and gender mainstreaming in projects will be beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, ability to synthesize complex project information into clear, structured, and accessible documentation. Strong communication and facilitation skills are required for conducting stakeholder consultations and validation workshops.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory (written and spoken). Knowledge of local languages (Oromiffa) would be an advantage for stakeholder engagement but is not mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs under time constraints. Proven track record of working collaboratively with government institutions and diverse stakeholders.
